100 ENDINGS
100 ENDINGS

In this project, I create the first part of an animation, and let the viewers to make the rest of it. I would show them the pre-made animation. I call it a trailer. The viewer will move the element from the last frame where I left to create an animation. They can use the material I offered, or anything they find in my room. They can add or remove elements from the frame. And after that, we would talk about their ideas. The goal is to make 100 endings to the story. In this project, I incorporate the viewers words as artist statement.

“I find the shell looks like some creature in the trailer. For the movement and they share some similarities. So, I decide to make them move in a line, like some fish or birds do. ”

“I don’t know. I just want to make some pattern. So, I use your setting in the trailer where the creature leaves a trail of tin foil fragments. And then two of the creatures knock at each other and get out of the frame. I want to keep the one with chain move as you do, but I forget to move it. Animation is so hard! You have to move so many things at the same time! ”

ARTIST STATEMENT
“I didn’t think too much about the given trailer. I just want to make an experiment: an explosion with the shells. The outcome is not so perfect as I imagined. I think I should have more frames when the shells shaking to create the mood, the energy before an explosion. And I really want to put a foley sound here.”
—— Anonymous, Animation student
“This is the first time I get in touch with stop motion animation. It is really fun. I like how the one with metal chain moves, so I try to imitate what you have done in the trailer. And after that I just play with given materials to see what visual effect I can create. ”
